Our national
parks

North Brabant has the most amazing and beautiful nature reserves with an enormous diversity.

From the big cities, you can get to one of the four national parks and other nature reserves in no time. Wherever you are in North Brabant, the countryside is always close by!

1

Van Gogh National Park

Van Gogh National Park is a unique landscape in the heart of North Brabant, where countryside and culture go hand in hand. Here, you literally follow in the footsteps of Vincent van Gogh. Explore the shifting sand plains, like those of the Loon and Drunen Dunes, wind your way past stream valleys, flower-filled fields and historical country estates.

Cycle past colourful fields, unwind in the tranquil Kampina nature reserve or enjoy a picnic amid ancient trees in the Dommel Valley. This area is an experience full of wonder – just as Van Gogh himself once saw it.

2

De Biesbosch

De Biesbosch National Park, the largest freshwater tidal wetland in Europe, is a maze of rivers, creeks and small islands. The best way to explore this national park is from the water: hire a whisper boat or sloop, grab a canoe, or join a boat tour.

Kalmthoutse Heide

Grenspark Kalmthoutse Heide (cross-border park) is on either side of the Dutch-Belgium border and consists of heathlands, fens, forests, polders and inland dunes. Rare plants thrive here, and the park is home to a variety of exceptional bird species.

De Groote Peel

The beautiful De Groote Peel National Park is on the border with Limburg. This varied area with impenetrable peatlands, vast plains, picturesque fens and impressive sand ridges is a genuine paradise for nature lovers.
